Westchester Arts & Entertainment NewsPelham, NY - Tuesday, May 20, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., the Pelham Art Center presents Art Talk, an evening discussion with artist Don Nice and curator and art historian Alexander Boyle about the legacy of the Hudson River School of painting and its influence on modern and contemporary artists.

This event is in connection with the Art Center's current exhibition entitled Glory of Landscape Then and Now, which features 25 artists - including Mr. Nice - and spans 160 years of landscape paintings and prints depicting the Hudson River Valley, Westchester County, and surrounding area. Glory of Landscape Then and Now runs through June 21.

About Don Nice:  Born in Visalia, CA, 1932, painter Don Nice has had more than 60 solo exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the world.  His work is represented in more than 70 collections including the Albany Institute of History & Art; Arnhems Museum, Holland; Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada; Art Institute of Chicago; Century Association, New York City; Jewish Museum, New York City; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Minneapolis Institute of Art; Museum of Modern Art, New York City; National Museum of Art, Canberra, Australia; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Whitney Museum of American Art; Yale University Art Gallery and others.  He is the recipient of a Ford Foundation Grant and a Whitney Museum of American Art Purchase Award. He lives and works in Garrison, NY.  For Glory of Landscape Then and Now, Mr. Nice exhibits four watercolors (out of nearly 90) made during an expedition along the Hudson River that began at the River’s source, Lake Tear of the Clouds and ended at the Statue of Liberty.

About Alexander Boyle: Mr. Boyle graduated in 1985 from Trinity College in Hartford, CT where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History. He is co-author of the book "Acid Rain," which he wrote with his father Robert H. Boyle, and which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He is a former Vice President at Godel & Co. Fine Art, NY, specializing in the works of the Hudson River School, Marine painting, American Impressionism, Ashcan, and antique frames. Mr. Boyle has written about these subjects for catalog essays and trade publications, and appeared in the 2002 Bill Moyers’ PBS documentary film on the Hudson River entitled “America’s First River.”  Mr. Boyle is currently at work on two books, one dedicated to original Hudson River School painting locales; the other is about the infamous 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum art theft. Mr. Boyle is one of the curators of Glory of Landscape Then and Now.
