 Purchase, NY - Maestro Paul Lustig Dunkel, music director and conductor of the Westchester Philharmonic, will be the guest conductor of the Purchase Symphony Orchestra (PSO) November 14 at 8 PM at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center.
A pre-concert performance at 7:30 of Crumb’s “Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) for Electric Flute, Electric Cello, and Amplified Piano” will be presented as part of the College’s campus-wide theme “Environment is Everything.” Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 914-251-6200 or online at www.artscenter.org.

The evening’s program includes Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments,” Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto” featuring Gozde Yasar, co-winner of the 2008 Concerto Competition, and Kaminsky’s “Terra Terribilis: Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra.”
Paul Lustig Dunkel has been music director as well as conductor of the Westchester Philharmonic since its founding in 1983. He has led the orchestra to national prominence for the excellence of its performance and for its innovations in programming, education and community engagement. He has worked with some of the pre-eminent composers, performers and institutions of 20th century American music in his multi-faceted career as conductor, flutist, arranger and writer. His work with the Westchester Philharmonic has been recognized by the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP), the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Westchester Arts Council and by the American Symphony Orchestra League who presented him with its Leopold Stokowski Conducting Award. He has served as music director of the Denver Chamber Orchestra, principal conductor of the Vermont Mozart Festival, and has appeared as a guest conductor with the Denver, Baltimore, Buffalo, New Jersey, Oakland, Syracuse, Richmond and American Symphonies.
