 Mt. Kisco, NY - The Latin art, dance, music, cuisine and crafts of Mexico will be celebrated during the “Fiesta New York Summer 2008” on Sunday, July 6, from 12 noon to 5 p.m., at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
Presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Mexican Folkloric Dance Society of New York, Inc., the Fiesta celebrates the richness and diversity of family, culture and community with health education awareness and screenings, and cultural entertainment throughout the afternoon.
Headlining the entertainment for the day will be the colorful dance groups Ecos de Mexico from Yonkers and Grupo Cetiliztli from Queens. Lively Latin music will be performed by Obsecion Musical and Los Compas de Mexico from Yonkers and Grupo Podargo from White Plains, along with Banda Mexicana Beato from St. Paul’s Church in New York City.
The Community Resource Plaza will also be on hand during the Fiesta to provide information about a spectrum of agencies and programs working to serve the local community.
A variety of Mexican foods will be available for purchase during the event.
Admission and limited parking are free. Carpooling is suggested. Bring chairs and blankets for seating on the lawn. The park can also be reached the Westchester County BEE-LINE bus system to Midland Avenue. Call for information, (914) 813-7777.
Tibbetts Brook Park is located on Midland Avenue in Yonkers. It can be reached via the Saw Mill River Parkway south to Cross County Parkway east, Midland Avenue/Yonkers Avenue exit. Make a right at the stop sign and follow to park entrance 3/4 mile on right. Or, take the Hutchinson River Parkway to Cross County Parkway west, Yonkers Avenue exit 3. At stop sign make a right. At second traffic light, make a right onto Midland Avenue. Follow 3/4 mile to park entrance on light.
