Purchase, NY - The Manhattanville College Departments of Music and Dance & Theatre present Leonard Bernstein’s Candide.
Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, January 29, 30 and 31 at 8:00 pm, and Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1 at 2:00 pm in the Little Theatre, Brownson Hall on the College’s Campus at 2900 Purchase Street, Purchase, New York. Admission is $10.00 general admission and; $5.00 for students and senior citizens.
Based on Voltaire’s satirical masterpiece, Candide follows the journey of a young man who is determined to follow his tutor’s philosophy of absolute optimism. However, his beliefs are severely challenged when he leaves his sheltered environment to embark on an epic adventure across the world…
From its famous overture to the soaring, emotional finale, CANDIDE glitters with an unforgettable score by Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story, On the Town) and brilliantly witty lyrics.
This production is under the direction and musical direction of Artist-in-Residence Mark Cherry, assisted by Beverly Meyer, with choreography by Bonnie Walker.
