Katonah Museum Of Art Presents Shades Of Jazz

Westchester Arts & Entertainment NewsKatonah, NY – An established KMA signature event, Shades of Jazz returns for its third year to the The Katonah Museum of Art Sculpture Garden to create summer evening memories for all ages.

Curated by legendary guitarist John Scofield, the three-part series begins June 11th and features the most recent sensations in the international jazz scene.  Shades of Jazz is sponsored by the Blue Note jazz club and Willy Nick’s Restaurant & Bar.  The event includes complimentary wine and beer; attendees traditionally bring picnic dinners, lawn chairs and blankets.  All Shades of Jazz performances take place on Wednesdays, beginning at 6:30pm.

The globally renowned musicians performing at Shades of Jazz this summer are:

June 11 --  guitarist Peter Bernstein
The acclaimed New Yorker has been part of the jazz scene here and abroad since the 1980s, playing with other famed artists in over 60 recordings and in performances with musicians of all ages.

July 16 -- Gino Stitson and his Cameroon a ccapella group
From a long line of musicians known as Ntontas (“players of horns”), Stitson has created sensations with his Vocal-Afro-Jazz group, selling out venues all over the world.

August 6 -- virtuoso saxophone and clarinet player Anat Cohen
The Israeli musician has established herself as one of the primary voices of her generation, incorporating modern and traditional jazz, classical music, Brazilian choro, Argentine tango and Afro-Cuban styles.

Shades of Jazz performances end with a jam session with John Scofield.  The series is made possible with contributions from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, The Little Wine Company and RadGrapes, and Organic Connection.
