Scarsdale, NY - The Hoff-Barthelson Music School will present violinist Lani King Chang on its HB Artist Series on Sunday, November 2 at 4 pm at the Scarsdale Community Baptist Church, Popham and Autenrieth Roads, Scarsdale.
Billing her recital as the “Hoff-Tet” Concert, Ms. Chang will be joined on her recital by fellow faculty members Barbara Berg, Claire Bright and April Johnson, violins; Mark Kushnir and Naomi Rooks, violas; and Nicole Johnson and Mark Tagle, celli, in performances of two Octets for strings.
The dynamic and exciting program includes the Mendelssohn Octet in E-Flat Major for Strings, Opus 20 (1809-1847), and the Octet for four Violins, Two Violas and Two Violoncelli, Opus 5, by Russian composer Reinhold Glière (1875-1956).
Violinist Lani King Chang, a native of Seattle, has performed with ensemble and festivals around the world, including the Apollo Chamber Players of London, International Musician’s Seminar, Chamber Music West, Composers Inc., and the Aspen, Norfolk and Dartington Festivals. She was a prizewinner of the Coleman National Chamber Music Competition. Ms. Change was a longstanding tenured member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, and has served as guest concertmaster of the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra.
