Scarsdale, NY - The Hoff-Barthelson Music School is pleased to present jazz saxophonist Laura Dreyer on its HB Artist Series, The Faculty in Performance, on Sunday, November 4 at 4:00 pm, at the Scarsdale Community Baptist Church, Popham and Autenreuth Roads, Scarsdale.
Ms. Dreyer will be joined on her program, Marcos Vigio, electric guitar; Itaiguara Brandão, electric bass, Klaus Mueller, piano, and Mauricio Zottarelli, drums.
Laura Dreyer works in a highly original mixture of Brazilian rhythms and textures The combination of spontaneous jazz improvisation and catchy lyrical melodies, along with the infectious grooves and sensuous harmonies, appeal to audiences on many different levels.
Laura Dreyer has been active, in a variety of musical contexts, for over two decades. In addition to being a highly respected jazz artist and composer, she is well known as a jazz educator, writer and commercial musician. Working in combination with her many talented colleagues, she produces a rich mixture of Brazilian jazz that is fresh and distinctive. She has performed at the Syracuse Jazz Festival, the May Lou Williams in Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center, and many of New York’s top clubs including Sweet Rhythm, Birdland, Sete MOMA, Le Bar Bat, La Belle Epoque, and Dekk.
The Hoff-Barthelson Music School, one of Westchester County’s most cherished and active cultural resources, has achieved national recognition as a premier community music school for its unsurpassed leadership in education, performance and outreach for more than half a century.
