Scarsdale, NY - The Hoff-Barthelson Music School Music Resource Center will hold its annual Music/Materials Review on Monday, September 22 at 11:30 am at the Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale, New York.
The Music and Materials Review is an annual display of music, books, and other materials from the Music Resource Center, along with demonstration and discussion of materials by faculty and community artist/teachers, which has become a valuable way for local music educators and musicians to keep informed about new pedagogical materials and teaching techniques. Browsing through materials begins at 11:30 am. Demonstrations start promptly at 12:30 am.
The Music Resource Center was founded in 1995 by Wilma Machover, Director of Artistic Programs at Hoff-Barthelson, with donations from publishers through the country and from her personal library of music, books, software, audiotapes, and videotapes. A major gift from the Music Teachers Council of Westchester in 1999 more than doubled the Center’s original resources. Yearly contributions by individuals, music and book publishers, and HB faculty members of valuable music, CDs and books continue to keep the collection current and have resulted in a quadrupling of the original collection.
An archival database manages the collection, the only one of its kind in Westchester County. The MRC directory contains over 300 pages with lists of exceptional materials. Programming events and projects for the Center take into consideration the needs of parents, teachers, and students. It is open on a regular basis for use by the general public and the Hoff-Barthelson community. Appointments can be made at 914-723-1169.
There is no charge for the Music and Materials Review, but reservations are suggested. 914-723-1169.
