Katonah, NY - A fun-filled Family Day awaits animal-lovers and fashionistas at the Katonah Museum of Art on Sunday July 19 from 1-4 p.m.
Families will have the opportunity to explore the museum’s latest installation “Dress Codes: Clothing as Metaphor” with family guides, participate in hands-on art projects and meet several special guests throughout the day. The event is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.
Special Family Day guests include authors Judi and Ron Barrett, whose children’s classic, Animals should definitely not wear clothing is featured in the Learning Center. Through delightful sketches by Ron Barrett, Animals should definitely not wear clothing explores why animals and clothes are not a good mix. Judi Barrett divides her time between writing children’s books and teaching art to children. In addition to illustrating books, Ron Barrett makes puzzles and is the author of The Nutty News. The couple, who will be on hand to visit with guests and discuss their work, have collaborated on several other books including Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
Also joining the Family Day festivities for the Meet The Artist series will be Luca Pizzaroni who will discuss his latest installation piece “The Label Project,” at 3:30 p.m.
Stitching, fabric, and design are details most quality conscious consumers take into consideration when shopping for clothes. Luca Pizzaroni sets himself apart by searching the globe for shirts that carry “Made in...” labels. To date his collection which has become “The Label Project” represents shirts made in almost every country in the world. Describing himself as a “postmodern flaneur” - a spectator of contemporary life on busy city streets - the Roman-born artist’s conceptual work often comments on the sociopolitical issues of city life.
