Mt. Kisco, NY - The Classics at Lasdon: Saturday Evenings with the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra series concludes for the 2008 season on Saturday, July 26 at Lasdon Park, Arboretum, and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
The evening’s program will consist of “Early Classics,” with selections by Handel, Mozart and Beethoven.
The concert series is presented by the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra and Westchester Parks and sponsored by Diversified Investment Advisors, Swiss Re, Friends of Westchester County Parks and Friends of Lasdon Park & Arboretum.
In this final installment, Maestro Petko Dimitrov will lead the orchestra as it performs Handel’s Water Music, Mozart’s Symphony No. 1, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.
The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra is one of the region’s cultural treasures. The orchestra debuted in 1965, and since then has grown to a full-scale orchestra of 70 to 100 professional musicians with a seven-concert regular season. The RSO, which has become an outstanding orchestral ensemble with first-rate soloists, plays to near-capacity houses and garners rave reviews.
Petko Dimitrov is Assistant Conductor for the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Dimitrov has been studying and working in the United States since 2001, but has been a student of music since his childhood. In his native country of Bulgaria, he has studied with such conductors as Ivan Bakalov, Vassil Kazandjiev, and Rossen Milanov. He has also been active as a conductor of a chamber ensemble of The New Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets for these concerts will be sold at the gate. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for children between 6 and 12 years of age. There is no charge for children under 6 years of age.
