Westchester Arts & Entertainment NewsValhalla, NY - Westchester Community College (WCC) hosts the acclaimed Chicago City Limits troupe’s timely new national touring production, One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State on Saturday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. in the Academic Arts Theatre on the Valhalla campus.

Whether your heart bleeds red or blue, Chicago City Limits has the political comedy cure, a special pre-election show. One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State goes head-to-head with the faces, places and events that shape the 2008 election. The cast takes issue with the issues as it combines the very best in sketch comedy, musical theatre, and audience-inspired improvisations. Seek shelter from the political storm as this amazing troupe’s show brings to life debatable debates, candid candidates, and the carnage of the campaign trail, called “Ingenious and very, very funny!” by The New York Times.

Chicago City Limits was founded in Chicago by George Todisco and actors participating in the workshop program at The Second City. In 1979, the troupe soon relocated to New York and began performing regularly at some of New York’s premier comedy venues including Catch a Rising Star, The Improv, and The Comic Strip. The ensemble established its own theater in 1980 and began a continuous run now numbering over 8,500 Off-Broadway performances. The group appears nightly in its own theater at The Improv.

Director Paul Zuckerman defines improvisation as “comedy without a net.” The troupe creates a one of a kind theatrical experience by taking suggestions from audience members and crafting scenes – everything from mini-musicals to game shows – on the spot. The result is a hilarious evening of comedy that is totally unique. No two Chicago City Limits productions are ever alike

The impressive list of guest artists who have improvised with Chicago City Limits over the years include international stars such as Paul Reiser, Robin Williams, Bret Butler, and Bill Irwin. Chicago City Limits has made dozens of TV appearances, including segments on The Today Show, Comedy Central, and Good Day New York. The troupe has also appeared on HBO, CNN, and CNBC. The ensemble was featured in its own TV news comedy series, Reel News, on the USA network.

Tickets are $20 (general public), $17 (students/seniors) and $12 (children under 13).  For tickets or information on these performances or the many other exiting cultural events, call the Office of Cultural Affairs at 914-606-6262.
