Mt. Kisco, NY - All are welcome to join renowned cartoonist Jim Jinkins for a tour of his own unique “Cartoons in the Park” outdoor art exhibit on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, at the Reservation in Cross River.
Pound Ridge resident Jim Jinkins is creator of the hit children’s animated television shows “Doug,” “P.B.& J. Otter,” “Jojo’s Circus” and “Pinky Dinky Doo.” Beginning at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day, Mr. Jinkins will lead visitors along a trail in the tall pines known as the “Forest of Possibilities” in search of silly and strange characters he has created that are hiding in his fantasy photos of the park.
Jinkins’ exhibit uses his own unique brand of artwork to tell a story about the many people who have taken a walk through the reservation over the past ten thousand years, such as Paleo-Indians chasing after giant beavers; citizen soldiers of merit in the Revolutionary War; and the world-renowned outdoorsman, the Leatherman. Kids and visitors of all ages can have fun as they search the exhibit for such cartoon figures as bug-eyed bugs, reclusive reptiles, tiny rabbits with carrot-shaped luggage, and a giant grilled cheese sandwich among others.
The exhibit will be open for self-guided viewing seven days a week, rain or shine, through Saturday, July 11.
Admission is free; parking at the reservation is $4 for Westchester County resident Park Pass holders, $8 without the Park Pass.
“Cartoons in the Park” is part of the Westchester County Art in Parks program, which brings changing exhibits of sculpture, paintings, murals and other forms of artwork to Westchester County parks for the appreciation of visitors of all ages.
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is a Westchester County park and is located at the junction of Route 35 and 121 South in Cross River. It can be reached via I-684 exit 6, Katonah/Cross River. Head east off the exit; the park is four miles ahead on the right.
