Westchester Arts & Entertainment NewsMt. Vernon, NY - Sherrill Enterprises is pleased to invite the public to the book signing celebration of Black to the Future: From the Plantation to the Corporation, written by Mount Vernon native Peter W. Sherrill.

The event will take place on Friday, July 11, 2008, 7:00 p.m. until midnight at the AC-BAW Cultural Arts Center, 128 South 4th Avenue (between East 2nd & 3rd Streets), Mount Vernon, New York 10550.  Come savor a relaxed atmosphere, meet and converse with our native son, and munch on an array of appetizing hors d'oeuvres, while enjoying the smooth sounds of jazz as the evening’s accompaniment.

Every so often there is one who emerges out of nowhere to create something so powerful; it could possibly change the world.  Black to the Future is just that type of literary masterpiece.  You will not believe the extraordinary, fascinating and lucid journey this book will take you on.

Brutally honest, equally provocative, undoubtedly unique - never has anyone Black ever taken the microscope and put their race under it for dissection.  As this author takes you through the halls of the once great Texaco, Inc. and tells a story of how Blacks, not Whites, have caused their own demise.

The fiasco that followed the settlement of the Texaco Discrimination Lawsuit is written with accurate, logistical, and logical summations.  This frank socio-economic/historic-theologic thesis on the irreparable damage the "House Negro" and their so-called leaders have inflicted on the Black race is reflected in the pages of this book that explores dysfunctional relationships of Black men and women and the betrayal, deceit and self-inflicted genocide that awaits this race and the plaintiffs of Texaco Inc.

Author Peter Sherrill was born and raised on the South side of the City of Mount Vernon, New York - in the city's only public housing project, Levister Towers. Having endured the rigors of the 1960's "ghetto", integration, and the Vietnam era, he excelled educationally and set out to conquer the world, only to find out that having the educational credentials did not help much when you're Black in America.

A graduate of Jacksonville University in Florida, majoring in Management and Economics, his extensive studies in his minor: sociology, and psychology, gives validity to his many concepts and theories in Human Relations.  After life in Corporate America, thus began a new era in the Public Sector of government where as Director of Emergency Services, National Disaster, specializing in Homeland Security began a whole new career, adventure, and meaning.

After extensive training in Weapons of Mass Destruction, Incident Command Systems as Incident Commander, Training at New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research Training Center, COBRA Training, Anniston Alabama Fort McCullen, for the War on Terror and conducting Homeland Security exercises, you would think that a new James Bond (007) had arrived.  Never in his wildest dreams did Peter Sherrill believe that becoming an author would be the next path of unexplored travel.  Black to the Future is an unprecedented work, and probably his most satisfying, controversial, and greatest achievement thus far.
