Bedford Chamber Series Launches 8th Season

Westchester Entertainment NewsBedford, NY - On Wednesday, October 22 at 8:00pm Bedford Chamber Concerts launches their eighth season of bringing Lincoln Center performance standards to Bedford.

Taking a page from the Grand Tours of Europe, each of the series of five concerts will highlight music from one of classical music’s cultural centers.  The October 22 concert will focus on compositions from Leipzig Germany where friends Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann often performed at the famed Zimmermann’s Coffee House. Accompanied by wine and refreshments reflective of Germany, at that time, the concerts will create the atmosphere in which the music was composed to have been played.

“Chamber music was written to be played in an intimate setting.  The acoustics and ambiance of our concert space provide exactly that and will allow the audience a sense of living room closeness to emerging artists of our day,” says world-renowned musician and Bedford Chamber Series Musical Director, Anthony Newman.

Described by Time Magazine as "The High Priest of the Harpsichord" and by Wynton Marsalis as “The High Priest of Bach,” Mr. Newman will perform on the harpsichord with accompaniment by the Bedford Concert Ensemble and with solo performances by Eugenia Zukerman, acclaimed by the Boston Globe as “one of the finest flutists of our time” and Grammy nominated flutist Tara Helen O’Conner and a guest appearance by baritone Raymond Diaz.  Performance pieces will include Bach Trios in C and G, Bach Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, Bach Contata “Amore Traditore,” and Telemann’s Water Music.

Mike Chace, Co-chair of the event says, “This event will bring together the finest contemporary talents, some of the greatest chamber music ever written and present it within a program that provides a warm and fun evening.”

The concert will take place in the Fellowship Room of St. Matthew’s Church, 382 Cantitoe Street in Bedford.  Refreshments will be served during intermission and are included in the $35 ticket price. For ticket reservations call 914-234-9636.
