 Elmsford, NY - The highly successful Ballroom DanceSport Extravaganza show "We Are The Champions" returns to the Westchester Broadway Theatre (WBT) on Tuesday evening, June 3rd, showcasing current World and American Ballroom Dance Champions in new showcase performances.
All forms of DanceSport will be in the spotlight alternating from International Latin and Standard styles to American Rhythm and Smooth, all to be seen in cabaret and theater arts presentations.
The show, too, will be highlighted by the appearance of Jorge Torres and Natalia Hills who are considered the finest Argentine Tango dancers in the world. Torres occupied the "Captain of the Dancers" role in the hit show Forever Tango when it played Broadway, London and Paris. He was nominated for a Tony Award for best choreography of a show. The career of the multi-talented Hills was highlighted by a special invitation to perform in honor of Princess Diana Spenser at the British Embassy in Argentina.
Returning with the show are Gherman Mustuc and Iveta Lukosiute, the reigning United States and United Kingdom 10-Dance Champions. They are ranked 4th in the world from Show Dance competitions and were recent winners of the Hong Kong Invitational Classic.
Two other couples returning are current World American Smooth-Style Champions, Steven Dougherty with Eulia Baranovsky, recently seen winning the American Ballroom Challenge on PBS, and Dmitri and Svetlana Ostashkin, 2-time Latin Champions of Eastern Europe and Grand Finalists in the World Show Dance Championship in Shanghia, China.
New to the 6-couples cast are Italy’s Erminio Stefano with his Russian partner, Snejana Petrova,. Stefano and Petrova made an auspicious debut together in London this past January in the United Kingdom Championship. Later in Japan and throughout Asia they thrilled audiences with their sensational quickstep routine before heading back to England and the world’s most prestigious dance event at Blackpool.
New also are American Rhythm stars, Matthew and Karen Hauer. Matthew and Karen were last year’s professional Rising Star Champions who have gotten off to a tremendous start in 2008 with American rhythm victories at the American Star Ball and Battle of Superstars in Tampa, Florida. Matthew, from Mexico City, and Karen from Venezuela, were silver medalists for the World Mambo title.
The show’s producer is Bob Beslove who doubles as Master of Ceremonies. Musical Director is Peter Collins.
