Millwood, NY - Bedford Community Theatre (BCT) will present a special performance of "A Christmas Carol, The Musical" to benefit Food Bank for Westchester.
The performance will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 8 pm at the Bedford Hills Community House, 74 Main Street, Bedford Hills.
"A Christmas Carol, The Musical" is Bedford Community Theatre's eighth annual musical production. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Lynn Ahrens and Mike Ockrent, this singing, dancing re-telling of Charles Dickens' tale brings all the classic characters to life on stage. BCT's production is directed by Tom Kramer, with musical direction by Kurt Kelley and choreography by Donna Fox. Diane Bradsell and Laurie Lewis are co-producers.
"This entertaining musical tells the tale of Scrooge's awakening to the beauty of helping people in need," said co-producer Laurie Lewis. "Given the message of Dickens' story, we felt it was important to extend our efforts to benefit the needy of our wider community. Enjoying great live entertainment while contributing to a worthy cause should make for a very satisfying evening for local theatergoers. And it will really put viewers in the Christmas spirit."
BCT operates in partnership with the Town of Bedford Recreation & Parks Department and is fueled by the volunteer efforts of local residents committed to the performing arts. "A Christmas Carol, The Musical" is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International, New York, NY.
"Giving back is important year-round," said Christina Rohatynskyj, Executive Director of the Food Bank for Westchester. "We are so grateful to the BCT for helping us help hungry families in Westchester this holiday season."
