Mt. Kisco, NY - Young people ages 15 to 20 years of age will rock the house when eight of the finest bands in the metropolitan area vie for first place at Westchester’s biggest and best arena during the sixth annual Battle of the Bands Saturday night, January 24, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
From 8 p.m. to midnight, eight bands that were chosen from more than 25 audition CDs will perform on the stage in the Main Hall in front of a live audience. Judging will be done by a panel consisting of staff from the parks department and professionals from the music industry; prizes will be awarded to the winning band.
Bands scheduled to perform are as follows:
Bleed the Fifth from White Plains
Ever Since from Thornwood
Faded Aces from Rye
Mori and the Contraband from Rye Brook
Noise in the Attic from Ossining
The Rochambros from New Rochelle
Romance and Ruin from Hawthorne
Sounds of Space from Mount Kisco
The winning band will receive six hours of free studio time at Acme Recording Studios in Mamaroneck. The first runner up will receive studio rehearsal time at In Tune Rehearsal Studios in Ardsley. All bands will receive a gift certificate from Sam Ash Music in White Plains.
Admission is $3 per person and I.D. is required for entry. Refreshments will be available for sale throughout the evening. The parking fee at the County Center lot will be waived for the event.
The Battle of the Bands is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc., Sam Ash Music, Acme Recording Studios, Inc., In Time Rehearsal Studios, and 107.1 the Peak World Class Rock radio.
The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, at the junction of Route 119 (Tarrytown Road) and the Bronx River Parkway.
