White Plains, NY - The Westchester County District Attorney's office announced that Maureen Jackson, 60, of Mount Kisco, New York plead guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the death of Jeffrey Schribman.
On January 28, 2007, at approximately 9:20 PM Port Chester police were dispatched to the area of 53 Exchange Place, on a report of an adult male who had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
Upon arrival, police found an adult white male lying on his back on the side of the road between 60 and 64 Exchange Place. The victim was unconscious and had blood on the right side of his face. Police and EMS placed him into the back of an ambulance and transported him to Greenwich Hospital.
Police commenced an accident investigation at which time they spoke to the person who reported the incident. He stated that just prior to calling police he heard the victim and the defendant, talking outside his residence and saw the defendant get into her car. He then saw the victim walk from the passenger side of the defendant’s car and stand directly in front of it. The defendant proceeded to drive forward with the victim backing away.
She then revved the engine, drove forward knocking the victim down and running him over.
At approximately 9:52 p.m. the defendant walked into the Mt. Kisco police department and stated that “I hit a person with my car in Port Chester and I drove off.” Shortly thereafter, Port Chester police were informed by Mt. Kisco police that the defendant had turned herself in to Mt. Kisco police headquarters.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. Port Chester police were informed that the victim, Jeffrey Schribman, had expired at Greenwich Hospital.
Jackson will be sentenced on June 3rd, 2008.
She faces a maximum of twenty five years in state prison.
Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lopez, of the Superior Court Trial Division, prosecuted the case.
