Over the Weekend, police conducted numerous inspections at various locations throughout the city.  On Friday evening, while conducting an inspection at Nollywood 2, 46-48 Mount Vernon Avenue, officers determined that the bar was serving alcoholic beverages without a license.  Charged with Unlicensed Sales of Liquor was:

JENNIFER WOYTOUICH, 21-year-old female, of New York, NY.

A follow up inspection of the bar on Saturday evening found the bar open, although no alcohol was being served, in consultation with the city’s building department, it was determined that the business lacked the necessary permits and the bar was ordered closed.

Also at approximately 1:30 AM, officers assigned to the enforcement detail observed several males running out of a club on Gramatan Avenue.  Patrons from the club, Café Dello Sport, 93 Gramatan Avenue, informed the officers that a fight was taking place inside the club.  Officers separated two individuals who were apparently fighting over a pool game.  During the investigation one of the males was observed with a quantity of apparent marijuana.  Arrested was:

MICHAEL FISHER, 21-year-old male, of Bronx, NY.
Mr. Fisher was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th.
During a search incidental to Mr. Fisher’s arrest, Mr. Fisher was in possession of a gravity knife.

The Police have filed State Liquor Authority reports on all of these premises.

Commissioner David Chong stated, “In light of the violence over the past few weeks from premises that sell alcohol, police intervention was needed to address illegal and quality of life offenses emanating from such premises. Complaints and criminal offenses arising from such premises have required a disproportionate number of police service calls and such disorderly premises have had a detrimental effect upon the impacted neighborhoods and residents of the City of Mount Vernon.  The message should be loud and clear, come and have a good time in Mount Vernon we welcome you, but obey the law.  This is not a place that will tolerate disorderly and intimidating anti-social conduct.  As a bar, club or licensed premises owner, we hold you to a standard that requires that you take ownership over your premises, that you control the behavior of your patrons both in your establishment and in the immediate area outside your premises.  As entrepreneurs and good neighbors you owe this to the community.  Enforcement efforts will continue throughout the spring and summer months.”
