White Plains, NY - The Westchester County District Attorney's office announced that after an investigation conducted by the Westchester County District Attorneys Auto Crimes Unit with assistance from New York City Police Department, the New York State Police, Westchester County Police and Yonkers Police, five individuals have been charged in connection with an auto theft ring stealing vehicles in New York City and transporting them to Westchester County for sale.
In total thirteen vehicles were stolen.
Funds for the “purchase” of the vehicles by the undercover officers were supplied by the NICB (the National Insurance Crime Bureau), Nationwide Insurance, and Auto One Insurance.
Charged are:
Milton Delacruz A/K/A Jose Pichardo, 24, of The Bronx, New York with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Second Degree, and with four counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Third Degree.
Jean Ramirez, 21, of The Bronx, New York with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Second Degree, and four counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Third Degree.
Steven Gil, 20, of The Bronx, New York with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Second Degree.
Julian Rosario A/K/A Platanito, 22, of The Bronx, New York with five counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Third Degree.
Raphy Polanco, 19, of The Bronx, New York with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, In the Third Degree.
They are members of a Bronx car club called "The Black Knights.”
On December 6, 2007 at about 1:50 p.m., Julian Rosario, a/k/a Platanito, Milton Delacruz, a/k/a Jose Pichardo, a/k/a King Snow, and Jean Ramirez sold an undercover officer a stolen 1996 black Acura Integra at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $800.
On December 8, 2007 at about 1:47 p.m., Julian Rosario, and Milton Delacruz, sold an undercover officer a stolen 1999 gray Honda Civic at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $500.
On December 14, 2007 at about 2:20 p.m., Julian Rosario, Jean Ramirez, and another person sold an undercover officer two stolen motor vehicles: a 1998 black Honda Civic and a black 1996 Honda Accord at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $500 each for a total of $1,000.
On December 17, 2007 at about 2:20 p.m., Julian Rosario, and Jean Ramirez, and another person sold an undercover officer two stolen motor vehicles: a blue 2002 Chrysler Voyager and a gray 2002 Chrysler Voyager at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $500 each for a total of $1,000.
On January 8, 2008 at about 3:10 p.m., Milton Delacruz, Raphy Polanco and others sold an undercover officer two stolen motor vehicles: a 2001 gray Chrysler Voyager and a white 2003 Dodge Caravan at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $500 each for a total of $1,000.
On January 14, 2008 at about 4:30 p.m., Milton Delacruz, Jean Ramirez, and Steven Gill sold an undercover officer two stolen motor vehicles: a green 2005 Honda Odyssey and a white 2005 Cadillac Escalade at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $3,500.
On January 31, 2008 at about 2:40 p.m., Delacruz, Rosario and Ramirez, sold an undercover officer three stolen motor vehicles: a maroon 2003 Dodge Caravan, a white 2000 Dodge Intrepid, and a blue 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers for $1,800.
Following that transaction, Delacuz, Rosario and Ramirez were arrested.
They were arraigned in Yonkers City Court on February 1st, 2008.
Dellacruz was the ringleader of this group and he is an admitted Latin King (King Snow).
On February 5th, 2008, the Auto Crimes Unit arrested Steven Gill.
On February 27th, 2008, the Auto Crimes Unit arrested Raphy Polanco.
All the defendants are currently incarcerated at the Westchester County Jail.
Those charged with CPSP in the Second Degree face a maximum of fifteen years in prison.
Those charged with CPSP in the Third Degree face a maximum of seven years in prison
Assistant District Attorney, Steven Vandervelden, Chief of the Organized Crime and Criminal Enterprise Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Joseph DiBenedetto, Deputy Chief of the Auto Crimes Unit, will prosecute the cases.
