White Plains, NY - Summer may be ending but things are just starting to heat up again at the White Plains Youth Bureau. The Youth Bureau has an exciting Saturday schedule planned for the upcoming year.
Old favorites like chess, and the open gym will return and new programs are being planned like hair care, drumming and Youth On Stage, the performing arts academy featuring dance, drumming, singing and theater.
Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 1-6 p.m. marks the kick-off event for this year’s schedule. The Youth Bureau has planned a day of activities that will appeal to youth of all ages, and maybe even their parents! Throughout the day participants will have the ability to try their hands at hair care, or drumming, give their bodies a workout at the African Dance or Mixed Martial Arts demonstration or engage in a friendly game of softball with police officers from the White Plains Department of Public Safety. For those looking for more cerebral type challenges, the Youth Bureau will sponsor Wii and Video game competitions. Prizes that day include movie tickets and two 20-inch bikes.
If you’re looking for a slower pace, you can groove to the beats of DJ, Lord Juddah while you enjoy some of the free snacks. The Youth Bureau will round out the day with popcorn and a movie in the Teen Lounge starting at 5.
White Plains youth and their parents are encouraged to spend all or part of the afternoon at the Youth Bureau where they can learn and experience what the Youth Bureau has to offer and register their youth for the Out-of-schooltime Drop-in Program.
