Larchmont, NY - Volunteers from the Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) and The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound (JLWOS) contributed their time on June 13 to make interior improvements at Furniture Sharehouse, Westchester’s Furniture Bank.
Furniture Sharehouse collects gently-used or new home furnishings from homes and businesses in the community, and redistributes them free of charge to those in need. These include families and individuals moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing, women and children escaping domestic violence, young adults aging out of foster care, working families struggling to stay ahead and victims of fires or other natural disasters.
Furniture Sharehouse was one of 20 non-profit organizations in Westchester, N.Y., and Fairfield, Conn. counties that PBG employees had the opportunity to volunteer with. Volunteers spent the day painting Furniture Sharehouse’s warehouse facility located at the Westchester County Airport.
“Furniture Sharehouse is grateful for the commitment of the Pepsi Bottling Group and Junior League of Westchester on the Sound to help make this community resource a more valuable asset to Westchester County,” said Kate Bialo, founder and director of Furniture Sharehouse.
Since its opening in April 2007, Furniture Sharehouse has served more than 290 families in Westchester County.
