White Plains, NY - On May 20, Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is starting a six-session evidence-based Parent Behavior Management Group for parents of children with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
The group will meet on Wednesdays (May 20 & 27 and June 3, 10, 17 & 24) from 6:45 - 8:15 PM at WJCS, 141 North Central Avenue, Hartsdale, NY.
Developed at Yale Child Study Center, PMT is one of the most extensively studied therapies for children and has been shown to be effective in decreasing oppositional, aggressive and antisocial behavior by training parents to manage their child's behavioral problems in the home and at school. Parents will learn new ways to understand their child’s behavior and to practice skills and techniques for effectively handling problem behaviors. Parents will learn how to prompt, praise, set up behavior charts, ignore inappropriate behaviors, use time-out procedures and engage in active role plays to practice those skills.
Interested parents should contact Norma Litman, LCSW, at 914 949-7699 ext 308 or email at
