Mt. Kisco, NY - Learn the art of blacksmithing, track wildlife, spend an evening searching for owls, lend a hand with morning farm chores or learn about turkeys in time for Thanksgiving -- all this an more during November at Muscoot Farm in Somers.
Blacksmith Workshop – Saturday, November 7, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Blacksmith Bill Fitzgerald will demonstrate the technique of blacksmithing. Space is limited to only five participants. Pre-registration is required; fee $80 per person. To register call (914) 864-7286.
In Search of Animal Signs – Sunday, November 8, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Hike along the farm road in search of animal signs and tracks. Dress for the weather.
Owl Prowl -- Saturday, November 14 – 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Join naturalist Frank Gallo for the Connecticut Audubon Society in Milford, CT as he presents a talk about owls. Then join us for a walk through the woods in search of nocturnal creatures. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
History Hike – Sunday, November 15 – 1 p.m. & 2 p.m.
Enjoy a leisurely walk around the farm and learn its history.
Morning Farm Chores – Saturday, November 21, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Join the farm staff as we feed, groom and take care of the animals. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required; fee $5 per person. Call (914) 864-7286; fee $25.
Let’s Talk Turkey – Sunday, November 22, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Learn abut the farm’s turkeys and have fun making Thanksgiving crafts.
Farm Animal Ornaments – Sunday, November 29, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Spend an afternoon making and decorating some special ornaments.
Muscoot is a Westchester County Park located on Route 100 in Somers and can be reached via I-684, exit 6. Go west on Route 35 to Route 100 and turn left; the farm is a mile and a half ahead on the right. The farm is accessible to the disabled with assistance.
