Mt. Kisco, NY - Join the “Grandparents Day” festivities, bring the children to learn all about barnyard animals, lend a hand with chores, do some old-time square dancing and shop the best farmers market in town, all in September at Muscoot Farm in Somers.
Muscoot Farmers Market – Sundays, September 7, 14, 21 and 28, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Support local farmers and enjoy a day at the farm. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish, chutney, delicious baked goods and more.
Artist Gallery – Saturdays and Sundays in September, noon to 4 p.m.
Dana Rosenberg, a local artist, displays her work in the Main House gallery.
Grandparents Day – Sunday, September 7, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Spend a fun afternoon at the farm celebrating Grandparents Day. Visit the Once Upon a Time museum, sip lemonade, sample cookies and make a keepsake craft.
Caring for Chickens: Pre-K Program for Children ages 3, 4 and 5 – Friday, September 12, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Children have an opportunity to learn about the farm’s poultry through hands-on experience. Fr-registration is required; fee is $10 per child. Call for a registration form.
Square Dancing – Sunday, September 14, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Kick up your heels with the “Friendly Squares” and caller Sandy. Visitors are invited to join the dancing or just enjoy from the sidelines.
Caring for Sheep - Friday, September 19, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Children will learn about the farm’s sheep through hands-on experience. Pre-registration is required; fee is $10 per child. Call for a registration form.
Morning Farm Chores – Saturday, September 20, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Help the farm staff to feed, groom and take care of the animals. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling the farm; fee $5 per person.
Harvest Day – Sunday, September 21, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The farm staff will lead the annual harvest of vegetables, and visitors are invited to lend a hand.
Caring for Horses - Friday, September 26, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Children will learn about the farm’s horses through hand-on experience. Pre-registration is required by calling the farm, and the fee is $10 per child.
Scarecrow Making Workshop – Saturday, September 27, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Bring some old clothes and a hat for your creation. Stuffing and burlap will be provided. There is no fee to participate, but pre-registration is required by calling the farm.
Halloween Decorations – Sunday, September 28, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Enjoy an afternoon making Halloween decorations.

Muscoot is a Westchester County Park located on Route 100 in Somers and can be reached via I-684, exit 6. Go west on Route 35 to Route 100 and turn left; the farm is a mile and a half ahead on the right. The farm is accessible to the disabled with assistance.
