Yonkers, NY - Philipse Manor Hall announces its entreaty to “knock on the oldest door in town” this Halloween. This free event, aimed at all members of the local community, will be held October 31st, 2008 from 4 – 7 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat at the Manor is both a chance to visit the Manor by twilight and to explore its interior in a unique way this Halloween.
For those that attend, the event promises the performance of haunting tales of New York State (offered both in Spanish and English, as appropriate), macabre music to unsettle the senses, a scary scavenger hunt that will lead you to the dark corners of the house, and a costume contest. The costume contest, held in the remarkable Gothic Chamber, will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to both adults and children.
For more information about the event, please call us at (914) 965-4027, or email Brittany Wheeler, Museum Programs Coordinator,

Philipse Manor Hall, a high-style Georgian manor house, was the seat of a 52,000-acre estate and home to three generations of the Lords of Philipsburg Manor. Built between 1680 and 1755, it is the site around which the City of Yonkers grew and developed. Today it is a focal point of the Yonkers waterfront revival.
Philipse Manor Hall is located at 29 Warburton Avenue, at Dock Street, in Yonkers, and parking is available on site. The historic site is one of six state historic sites and 12 parks administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation – Taconic Region.
