Learn what it is like to be “The Woman Left Behind” from Karen Hertz Everett, President of the Westchester Region of Hadassah who has experienced both Iraqi wars as the wife of a serviceman.
Make this a special Chanukah for our troops in Iraq and participate in a unique program.
Bring an item for the Support Our Troops Mitzvah Project.
Suggested items include: power bars, coffee/creamer, dried fruits, tuna or salmon in packets, warm knit hats, socks, gloves or glove liners, DVDs of new movies, new magazines, puzzle books and cards addressed ‘dear hero or dear soldier’.
Karen is married to David Everett, an attorney in Manhattan and Westchester, and a Colonel (Ret) in the United States Army Reserves, who served in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm in 1993-1994 as well as in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005-2006.
Karen currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester, most recently as Co-chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee, and has served on the board of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck UJA-Federation. She has fundraised extensively for her synagogue, the Westchester Jewish Center in Mamaroneck, New York, and presently serves on the Design Committee for their current capital improvement project. She earned her BA in Sociology from Princeton University, and had an extensive career in advertising and marketing having held the position of National Sales Representative for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.
Although, she left advertising to raise her three children, Karen returned to the workforce as an Interior Designer in 2000 and recently received her AAS from the New York School of Interior Design. She currently works as an Interior Designer for private clients throughout Westchester County.
