Simply Family Fun Festival At The County Center

Westchester Community NewsWhite Plains, NY - A day of activities and entertainment, information and shopping for parents and kids, along with a casting call for a network television show, is in store during the “Simply Family” Fun Festival on Saturday, November 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The program is part of the County Center’s “Keep It Simple” workshop series that strives to help busy families and people of all ages to simplify and streamline their busy lifestyles. It is presented by Beth Feldman, founder of Rolemommy.com, a website that is dedicated to helping mothers of all ages with parenting tips, while urging them to stay focused on their own dreams as well. She is also co-author of Peeing in Peace . . . Tales & Tips for Type A Moms.

The festival will offer a variety of entertainment for kids and families, along with a host of vendors that will offer information and resources for parents, along with products to help you get a head-start on your holiday shopping.

The event will feature:

    * An open casting call for the upcoming winter season for the hit TV series “Supernanny” with Jo Frost, “American’s Number One nanny.” This year, the show is searching for particular families who are preparing for a big event, like a wedding or family reunion, and can use some advice and guidance along the way. No reservations are required; interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the event.
    * The Top Ten toys of the season will be presented by New York Metroparents.
    * A special holiday fashion show for kids of all ages hosted by News 12 reporter Antoinette Biordi
    * Storytime and a book signing with children’s authors Alyssa Satin Capucilli (Biscuit and Katy Duck books) and Taylor Morris (Class Favorite)
    * Entertainment by Family Fun and Parenting Magazine’s favorites Princess Katie and Racer Steve, and award-winning singer/songwriter Danna Banana
    * “Marvels of Motion” featuring Mad Science’s own Radical Rob, who will explore the laws of motion during an engaging physics performance that includes astonishing jetpacks and a rocket-propelled car
    * Tips on parenting, such as how to select a pediatrician and a caregiver for your family
    * Free ice cream for all youngsters by Little Scoops
    * Face painting and crafts, along with free raffles for prizes
    * Toys for Tots fundraising drive sponsored by 100.7 WHUD radio; bring an unwrapped toy for a child of any age to help give a less fortunate child a happy holiday
    * A host of vendors with toys and gift items, such as Scholastic Books (Clifford the Big Red Dog will be in attendance as well!), Mad Science, Destination Maternity, Dinner in Hand and The Family Coach

Admission to the festival is $10 for adults and free for children under age 14. Parking at the County Center lot is $4.

The “Simply Family” Fun Festival is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, 100.7 WHUD Radio, News 12, The Journal News/LoHud Moms.com, and Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc.

The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, at the junction of Tarrytown Road (Route 119) and the Bronx River Parkway.
