Scarsdale Resident To Be Honored At WRT

Westchester Community NewsScarsdale, NY - Scarsdale resident Evelyn Stock will receive the 2008 Men’s Club Brotherhood Award on Friday, May 30 during a Shabbat service which begins at 7:45 p.m. at Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale.

This award is given annually to an individual who is devoted to the temple, to Judaism, and to the community. 

A member of Westchester Reform Temple since 1975, Evelyn Stock has served as Vice-President, a member of the Board of Trustees, chair of the search committee for Assistant Rabbi, chair of the Nominating Committee, and member of the ECE and Synagogue 2000.  At present, she serves on the temple’s Executive Board as secretary, as well as co-chair of the Connections Committee.

 In addition to her involvement in temple activities, Stock is active in the Scarsdale community.  Currently, she is co-chair of the Scarsdale Adult School, as well as a member of the Scarsdale Foundation, the Westchester Fair Campaign Practices Committee, and the School Board Administrative Committee.  She is also on the Advisory Boards of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Scarsdale, the Westchester Children’s Association, and the Scarsdale Youth Employment Service.  Formerly, Stock’s many community leadership positions included serving as Scarsdale School Board President (1991-92), President of the LWV of Scarsdale, and Chair of the Scarsdale Bowl Committee. In 1997 Evelyn Stock became the recipient of the Scarsdale Bowl.

Beyond the Scarsdale community, Evelyn Stock was President of both the Westchester and the New York State League of Women Voters.  Among her many awards and distinctions, Stock was Westchester Woman of the Year in 1996.

The Shabbat service is free and open to the public at Westchester Reform Temple, which is located at 255 Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale.
