Rye, NY - The Rye Town Park Commission has produced a four-fold, full-color, two-sided “Welcome to Rye Town Park” brochure to provide a full introduction to the many aspects of Rye Town Park’s operations, history, and programs.
While many people may be somewhat familiar with the Park’s summer beach facilities, they may not appreciate or understand the park’s value to the community as a year-round environmental, educational, recreational, and cultural venue.
The sixty-two acre Park opened in 1909, and thus next year it will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. Fashions and technology may have changed over the years, but people still love a day at the beach and a walk in the park. The Rye Town Park Commission works closely with the Friends of Rye Town Park to maintain and enhance the facilities for everyone’s enjoyment.
The brochure is geared to the general public, not just the residents of Rye City and Rye Town (including Port Chester, Rye Brook, and Rye Neck) whose tax dollars help support the Park. The Park is open to everyone, and the non-resident parking and admission fees provide important support for the Park’s operations.
Copies of the brochure have been distributed to the municipal buildings of Rye Town, Rye City, Rye Brook and Port Chester. Copies are also available at the Rye, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont and Harrison Libraries.
For further information about the brochure, phone the Town of Rye Supervisor’s office at 939-0375.
