White Plains, NY - White Plains Common Council Member Rita Malmud will be the featured guest speaker at the November meeting of the White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations. Continuing WPCNA's Leadership in Governance series, Ms. Malmud will discuss Leadership in the City.
The November meeting of the White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations (WPCNA) will introduce Captain David R. Burpee of the White Plains Department of Public Safety, who will discuss the Neighborhood Watch and Tip411 programs. Then Common Council Member Rita Malmud will explore Leadership in the City from the perspective of her unique legislative style.
The meeting will be held at Education House at 5 Homeside Lane in White Plains, NY at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Admission is free and audience participation is encouraged.
A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Ms. Malmud has been a member of the White Plains Common Council since 1990. Before her election, she was president of the Westchester County League of Women Voters, and president of the White Plains League before that. An avid reader, sports fan, and outdoor enthusiast, she worked in real estate while raising her family. As a Council Member, Ms. Malmud is widely respected both for her thoughtful analyses and her gracious respect for differing opinions. She says, "You can always legislate effectively with grace and dignity."
Ms. Malmud, who is retiring from public life in January, is a popular and highly regarded community leader. Come early to get a good seat.
The WPCNA, which is an apolitical non-governmental organization, provides a citywide forum on education, safety, health, government, the environment, and open space. Its members are the autonomous neighborhood associations dedicated to preserving and improving the quality of life in White Plains.
