Valhalla, NY - Jason L. Riley, an author and a member of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board, will discuss his pro-immigration stance when he appears at Westchester Community College (WCC) on Wednesday, May 28 at 6:15 p.m.
The conservative African-American writer penned Let Them In: The Case For Open Borders. He will discuss this book at the college.
Using statistical evidence and his considerable persuasive powers, the author attacks popular arguments against immigration. He notes that the majority of illegal immigrants are paying their way (consumer taxes, Social Security and Medicare federal taxes) and contends that the majority of today’s immigrants do not take jobs away from Americans. Riley appears regularly on television on the Journal Editorial Report, The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, Hannity and Colmes, and ABC’s World News Tonight.
The event is sponsored by the Westchester Community College and the college’s Gateway Center, which will open in 2010. The Gateway Center will include resources for students who are international residents of the county. It will also house space for the college’s Business Programs, Professional Development Center (offering business training to small businesses and corporate clients), and the college’s volunteer office.
The conversation and book signing with Riley is free and open to the public. Reservations are required at 914-606-6558.
