 New York, NY - Le Marais and Clubhouse Cafe, sister kosher restaurants, will observe “Nine Days” by serving special menus, highlighting fish and pasta dishes.
Beginning on the eve of August 1st and concluding August 10th, Nine Days is the period of mourning to commemorate the destruction of the first and second temples in Jerusalem.
The Nine Days are the first days of the Jewish month of Av that require a strict level of mourning. During this time, Jewish law forbids specific pleasurable activities which include eating meat and drinking wine. The restaurants will serve non-alcoholic beverages as well, including virgin sangria.
“Since meat is prohibited during the nine days due to religious obligations, Le Marais and Clubhouse Cafe are committed to providing delicious dishes other than our signature steak,” said chef and owner, Jose Meirelles. “It’s a creative challenge, and we source the best quality kosher fish specifically for this time for our guests.”
During the Nine Days, in addition to the daily a la carte menu, special menu dishes at Le Marais will include:
