 White Plains, NY - On Saturday, December 6, the Music Conservatory of Westchester will host Performathon 2008, an all-day marathon of student performances that also includes a holiday craft boutique, food and refreshments.
The daylong celebration takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Proceeds from the holiday craft boutique and refreshments will support the Conservatory’s music therapy, scholarship and student ensemble and performance programs.
Performathon 2008 is the culminating event in the organization’s 2 nd annual Faculty Appreciation Week. This year, the Conservatory will unveil photos of 14 dedicated faculty members who have been teaching for 20 years or more. The photo display will appear outside the Michael Stadther and Helen Demetrios Recital Hall in the building lobby. Photos of all 80 faculty members will be added in the spring.
A reception honoring the Conservatory’s longstanding faculty will follow the student performances at 7 p.m. Those to be recognized include:
Frances Sherer Caldwell (of White Plains), piano faculty since 1974; Dorothy Jonas (of White Plains), piano faculty since 1965; Harold Jones (of New York, NY), flute faculty since 1966; Christina Khimm (of Scarsdale), violin faculty since 1988; David Krieger (of Pleasantville), cello faculty since 1988; Phyllis Lanini (of White Plains), oboe faculty since 1974; Lillian Laskowitz (of Dobbs Ferry), piano faculty since 1983; James Lorusso (of New Rochelle), guitar faculty since 1973; Elliot Magaziner (of Scarsdale), violin and viola faculty since 1980; Nick Mangini (of Patterson), percussion faculty since 1978; Joshua Pierce (of New York, NY), piano faculty since 1978; Rick Prokop (of White Plains), piano faculty since 1981; Lisa Sandagata (of Ossining), music therapy faculty since 1988; and Inna Sukonik (of Kew Gardens), piano faculty since 1975.

About the Music Conservatory of Westchester
Founded in 1929, the Music Conservatory of Westchester a non-profit community school of the arts, providing music, musical theatre education, and music therapy for people of all ages and abilities. The Conservatory’s 36,000-square-foot facility in White Plains offers a Recital Hall and 43 acoustically designed classrooms and teaching studios.
