Westchester Community NewsBrewster, NY - Little Folk Farm Days, one of Green Chimneys' most popular community events, returns this spring.  The fundraising event will be held on the organization's 196-acre Brewster campus May 13, 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"It's the perfect opportunity to bring friends and family, young and old, to a special place in Putnam County, a school for special children that plays a huge role in supporting the community by offering these unique events," says Dr. Duncan Lester, director of educational services..."Families come back each year to visit the farm, get a pony ride and participate in exciting activities."

Little Folk Farm Day is ideal for pre-schoolers, elementary school children, play groups and families who can get in touch with Putnam heritage and agrarian roots.  Green Chimneys operates one of the few farms left in what was once a totally rural county.

Little Folk Farm Day not only includes a pony ride for children and a hayride, but there are tours of the farm, a chance to see more than 200 farm animals and wildlife – including some newborns chicks and goats.  There’s even a Scholastic Book Fair so your child can select his or her favorite reading material.  Admission for youngsters includes a pony ride, a "hayride," games and more.

Tickets are $7 per child, if pre-paid, and $10 at the door. Tickets for adults are $5.  Lunch may be purchased on the campus for an additional charge. Registration is required for groups of 10 or more. For reservations, telephone Diane Guilfoil in public programs at (845) 279-2995, ext. 166.

Founded in 1947, Green Chimneys restores possibilities and creates futures for children with emotional, behavioral and learning challenges. Headquartered in Brewster, NY, it is world renowned for its animal-assisted therapy program and operates a residential treatment center for children, an accredited special education school, a farm and wildlife conservation center, an organic farm, a runaway shelter and community outreach center, a community nursery school and summer camp, group homes, a mentoring program for youth, LGBTQ programs in New York City, programs and special events for the public and a number of programs in Connecticut and New York City.
