White Plains, NY - With a $1,000 grant from the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, The Parent-Child Center (PCC), a program of Westchester Jewish Community Services, is developing a "Fall into Fitness Program" for its participants.
"The Junior League has long been a supporter of The Parent-Child Center," says Patrice Cuddy, Program Director. "Their funding has enabled us to enrich and enhance our programming in many ways. This latest grant allows us to further our 2007-2008 Wellness Campaign supporting positive health choices through nutrition, exercise and lifestyle habits."
Located in the cafeteria of the old St. Gabriel's School in New Rochelle, the Parent Child Center is a free weekly drop-in playgroup for low-income families designed to bridge the achievement gap. Each week there are more than 100 participants. The program encourages parents and their young children (age 0 - 4) to engage in activities that develop learning readiness in children and build self-esteem and parenting skills in parents.
