Mt. Kisco, NY - On Sunday, November 9, Open Door Family Medical Centers will present Acapella For Toys, a live concert to support Open Door's collection of unwrapped gifts for children of working poor families throughout our community. The concert will feature the Quaker Notes, the Acafellas and the Enchords.
The concert is organized by Horace Greeley High School Junior Katherine Friedland, a member of the Quaker Notes.
Acapella For Toys will be held at The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, 191 Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua from 3-5pm. Admission is 1 new, unwrapped toy. Among the items Open Door suggests are dolls, art sets, jewelry kits, cars, trains, planes, blocks, educational toys, baby toys, soccer balls, footballs, sports caps and gift cards, all with a value of up to $15.
Gifts are also being collected through the month of November at Open Door’s four offices:
* 165 Main Street, Ossining
* 80 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow
* 30 West Main Street, Mt. Kisco
* 5 Grace Church Street, Port Chester.
Each year, Open Door distributes over 3,000 toys to children in the communities it serves.
“For most of the children, the gifts they receive from Open Door will be the only Holiday Gift they receive. Their excitement and appreciation make this one of the most moving events of the year for all of us,” said Alicia Ward, Open Door’s Volunteer Coordinator. “This year we are also very excited to include the Acapella For Toys event as part of our drive. We appreciate the incredible generosity of Katherine Friedland and her colleagues who are donating their time and talent to help us make this a wonderful holiday for all of the children in our community.”
