Mt. Kisco, NY - Discover wonderful new species of fictional animals born in the imagination of children’s author John Paul Jimenez as he reads from his books Gutterfish and Subway Deer, Saturday, January 17, 1 p.m. at Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains.
Both books tap into the wonder of imagination by beautifully transforming the streets and settings of our everyday urban and suburban surroundings into a magical world where incredible creatures live and the fantastic is made real. After the reading, Jimenez will assist children in creating and illustrating their own stories to take home.
Gutterfish reveals the intimate world of the evolutionarily fantastic fish living in curbside puddles. The biological mystery of the Gutterfish is told through beautiful artwork and poetic prose, appealing to children of all ages. Subway Deer takes readers to the quiet calm of a forgotten underground world where amazing imaginary animals live.
Born and raised in New York City, Jimenez holds degrees in both biology and studio art. He is a painter, sculptor, photographer and writer. He used a combination of photography, pencil and digital media to create the finished artwork for Gutterfish and Subway Deer.
There is no pre-registration or fee required for the program.
