Mt. Kisco, NY - Spring is on the way, but you can still choose the best of farm fresh produce and food products offered by New York State farmers during the final indoor Farmers Market of the season on Sunday, March 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
The Farmers Market comprises more than 20 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, pasture-raised meats and artisan cheeses, along with a host of baked desserts, bread and quiches.
To add to the festivities, guest chef Kevin Kenny from CulinArt, Inc., will prepare two special dishes using fresh produce: velvety cauliflower soup with potatoes and fresh spinach, and honey-spiced spaghetti squash. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Mr. Kenny is regional executive chef for CulinArt’s leisure and catering divisions. His philosophy of “Keep It Simple” is exemplified in his many regional dishes, with a specialty in Italian cuisine. His demonstration begins at 12 noon. As always, shoppers will be able to sample his creations.
Entertainment for the market will be provided by Joe Iadanza, Glen Roethel, Paul Helou and Joe Duraes, all musicians from the Tribes Hill Community.
Admission is free; parking is $4 at the County Center lot. A discount parking coupon is available online at www.countycenter.biz.
Dates for upcoming outdoor Farmers Markets are Sunday, April 19, as part of the Earth Day Celebration at Kensico Dam Plaza; and every Sunday, beginning May 3 and running through the end of November, at Muscoot Farm in Somers.
The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, at the Bronx River Parkway and Route 119 (Tarrytown Road).
