Rye, NY - An old fashioned, family fun Country Fair will be held on The Osborn campus from 10am to 4pm on Saturday June 7th. Admission is free.
There will be an enormous White Elephant sale with furniture, books, and bric-a-brac, a Model A antique car show, as well as rides, games, and prizes for all ages. A fabulous food court prepared by The Osborn’s executive chef and a raffle for a 37” High Definition TV complete the festivities! There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, miniature golf, a giant air castle, a dunking tank (!), eating contests and entertainment sure to please everyone from the youngest in the family on up.
The Country Fair is part of The Osborn’s Centennial celebration. Proceeds from the Country Fair will benefit The Osborn’s century old Charity Care program which provides free care and residency at The Osborn and homecare off campus to individuals who cannot afford to pay. Over the last 10 years, The Osborn Charity Care Program has provided over $30 million in free care and residency.
Now celebrating its hundredth year in Rye, The Osborn is the result of the vision of Miriam Osborn. Her bequest for the establishment of a home for “aged gentlewomen” was made a reality by her attorney and friend, John W. Sterling, co-founder of the law firm Shearman & Sterling and a generous benefactor of Yale University, his alma mater. The Osborn has been providing excellent health care and superior residential services to seniors since it opened in April 1908. Through Osborn Home Care, individuals in their own homes in Westchester County can receive Osborn quality nurse case management and personal care services from The Osborn’s home health aides.
The fascinating history of The Osborn has been recorded in “Images of America: The Osborn” written by Osborn CEO Mark R. Zwerger, Sterling Park Manager Janet Malang, and Dining Services Director Andrew Horn. Copies of the book will be available for $20 at the Country Fair, can be ordered at
