Dobbs Ferry, NY - Chocolate, vanilla, and mint chocolate chip ice cream, are some of the top ten reasons why families will enjoy Chabad of the Rivertowns’s Annual Shavuot Ice Cream Party, where the ten commandments will be read.
Monday, June 7th, commemorates the holiday of Shavuot, the day the Jews received the Ten Commandments (Torah) and the revelation on Mount Sinai, 3,320 years ago. The Mitzvah of the day on Shavuot, is to hear the reading of the Ten Commandments, and it is also customary to eat dairy* foods on the holiday.
As part of Chabad of the Rivertown’s mission statement to reveal the beauty and joy within Judaism, there will be a special children’s program for this Shavout. A fun, “Ice Cream Party” for the children during the reading of the Ten Commandments is scheduled for 6:15 pm, on Monday, June 9th at Chabad, 303 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry. There will also be a light dairy dinner buffet. There is no charge for the party. All are welcome.
