Mt. Kisco, NY - Enjoy a day filled with the rich culture of India at the Heritage of India Festival on Sunday, August 3, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
Throughout the celebration there will be entertainment with performances of Indian music and folk dancing. Festival-goers can learn about Indian astrology, yoga and spiritual exercises or decorate themselves with Mahendi, also known as Henna art. Children can enjoy amusement rides and making sand art. There will also be a fashion show showcasing colorful Indian clothing.
Visitors can also browse an Indian merchandise bazaar where a variety of vendors will be selling things such as Indian clothing, jewelry, CDs, DVDs and delicious Indian cuisine. Indian arts and crafts exhibitions will be on display as well.
Parking and admission are free. The event will be held rain or shine.
The Heritage of India Festival is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, the Indian American Cultural Association of Westchester, Con Edison and the Westchester Medical Center.
The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway.
