Westchester Community NewsMt. Kisco, NY - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester, in partnership with the Junior League of Northern Westchester and the Northern Westchester Hospital, recently hosted “Kids in the Kitchen,” a fun-filled interactive health fair designed to combat childhood obesity.

Families with children pre-K through fifth grade were taught the importance of eating well and staying healthy.

The event featured a performance of FoodPlay, an Emmy Award-winning nutrition theater show featuring fantastic feats of juggling, colorful characters, music, magic, and audience participation that helped children learn how to take charge of growing up healthy and fit. Local chefs offered parents healthy cooking tips using live demonstrations. Medical professionals, nutritionists, and local farmers discussed the importance of making healthy food choices and incorporating fitness in a child’s everyday life. Edible arts and crafts were also available, as well as interactive events like planting a seed and measuring your own metabolism.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester is located at 351 Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY and can be reached at (914) 666-8069 or visit www.bgcnw.com.
