Scarsdale, NY - Cantor Mia Fram Davidson will be installed as Assistant Cantor at Westchester Reform Temple (WRT) in Scarsdale on Friday, January 11, 2008 at a Shabbat service which begins at 7:45 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
Having joined the clergy team at Westchester Reform Temple as cantorial intern in the summer of 2006, Cantor Davidson was formally invested as a cantor in 2007 by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.
Davidson grew up in Reston, Virginia, singing in the choir that her mother still directs. She graduated summa sum laude from Duke University with a degree in music, concentrating in voice and piano performance, and a Jewish studies certificate. During her first three years of cantorial school, she served as student cantor at Temple Sinai in Washington, D.C. While studying at HUC-JIR, she held positions of leadership and received many academic honors, including the Rabbi Jack Stern and Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman prize in Liturgy.
Cantor Davidson lives in Armonk, New York with her husband, Rabbi Joshua Davidson, and their daughter, Helena.
