Mt. Kisco, NY - Get ready, kids – Ant Man will arrive to give everyone special insight into the world of these hard working insects on Saturday, October 4 at Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Ant Man – who is retired actor/director John Grassilli, will display his gargantuan, 12-foot long ant sculpture. He'll amaze you with facts about the world of ants - how they steal the young from other species, wage chemical war on their enemies, and peacefully farm plants and fungi to eat. We'll also try to catch an ant or two for a close-up look.
John Grassilli has performed off-Broadway and in regional theatre for 40 years. He has been artistic and producing director of four professional theatres across the country. His “Ant Man” show is a tribute to myrmecologists (specialists in the scientific study of ants) Edward O. Wilson and Bert Holldobler for winning a National Book Award for their 1990 monograph, ANTS.
Admission is free and open to the public with no advance registration required.
Cranberry Lake Preserve is a Westchester County Park located on Old Orchard Street in North White Plains, off Route 22, one mile north of the Kensico Dam.
