Mt. Kisco, NY - Whether you are preparing new flower beds to enjoy the entire season or creating a vegetable garden to nourish your family, you are certain to find the top quality plants you need at the annual Friends of Lasdon Plant Sale to be held on Saturday, May 17, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
In addition to the many traditional garden plants, many of which were raised in the greenhouse at Lasdon, you will find new, unique, and hard to find annuals, perennials, herbs, shrubs and vines. These plants are ready to be set out in your garden or in containers for your outdoor pleasure. A wide selection of pre-planted hanging baskets and containers will be offered as well.
For your vegetable garden you can also select from traditional vegetable plants or from new and exciting varieties, as well as heirloom and new-to-market tomato plants. You can purchase “pails of edibles,” ready-to-plant vegetable garden kits for children, to help them discover the joy of growing wonderful, wholesome foods in their own “first garden.”
Knowledgeable and experienced gardeners will be on hand to help you with your selections, any questions you may have or to advise on step-by-step planting specifics.
New at the sale this year, you can enjoy a brief walk with an informed guide through the extensive lilac collection in full bloom, watch a hands-on demonstration of how to plant your own container, or purchase a handmade trough, either pre-planted or ready to plant at home.
Before or after shopping at the plant sale be sure to visit the Garden Shop, which is stocked with interesting house plants and horticulture-related gift items. Relax with a cup of coffee or tea and get the latest news about the park, the County Park system and Lasdon Park’s Glass House Conservatory project.
All proceeds benefit the horticultural programs at Lasdon Park and Arboretum.
The Plant Sale will be held rain or shine. Admission and parking are free.
