White Plains, NY - If you own a business and want to start developing international markets, Westchester County has a brochure for you. More than 4,000 copies of the new “Guide to Global Business Resources” were mailed to local firms this week.
The guide lists several organizations that can help small and medium-sized businesses get a jump start when it comes to overseas marketing: the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center, the World Trade Council of Westchester, the Westchester County Office of Economic Development and Empire State Development. Each organization lists the services it offers and provides phone and email contacts.
“We all offer a unique set of resources and this is a good way to put them all together,” said County Executive Andy Spano. “I think people will be very surprised to learn how much assistance is available to local companies that want to become more competitive and market their products and services overseas. Every company, no matter what their experience, can probably benefit from outside expertise.”
Available services include global videoconferencing, matchmaking and networking, market research, connecting with potential agents and distributors, and international trade shows and trade missions.
An electronic version of the guide and resource links are available at: www.westchestergov.com/globalbusiness. Business owners are also asked to fill out the brief registration form available on the website to receive periodic news updates, event invitations and other global business-related information via e-mail. To get a printed copy of the brochure, contact Scott Fernqvist at (914) 995-3078 or
