 White Plains , NY - Sam's of Gedney Way, a local neighborhood bistro, is commemorating its 75th anniversary on its quiet White Plains block. The restaurant has brought back such favorite desserts from its early years as peach melba and apple pie, and invites patrons to enjoy a special dessert for 75 cents.
Root beer, an American classic, also is on the menu for 75 cents.
Sam's of Gedney Way is the oldest member of the New York Hospitality Group, a family of companies that includes the C.V. Rich Mansion event space, Caperberry Events catering company, and The Great American BBQ Co. Peter Herrero, Jr., President of the New York Hospitality Group, takes pride in his "menus for all venues."
"We offer our customers the full range of dining services, from sit-down dinners and take-out at Sam's of Gedney Way to an upscale event planning and outdoor BBQ catering," said Herrero.
The restaurant décor features red bricks from the building's original existence and a time piece mural outlining the restaurant's rich history. The classic oak bar room offers candle lit tables and comfortable bar chairs. The restaurant also seats 15 guests in the private gallery room with local artist renderings and 100 guests in the private second floor Oak Room.
"Gedney Way was just a dirt road when the restaurant first opened in 1932," Herrero said. "Over the course of the restaurant's 75 years, we have maintained our tradition of serving high-quality American cuisine, and providing warm hospitality and dependable service. We take pride in serving the children and grandchildren of some of our original patrons."
Sam's of Gedney Way will be celebrating its anniversary through December 31, 2007. In addition to the dessert and root beer specials, there will be promotions offered throughout the month.
