 Sleepy Hollow, NY - Couples, families and corporate event planners looking for a truly elegant and old-world location for a wedding or special event are invited to a series of open houses at the James House Mansion in Sleepy Hollow, June 24, July 1, 8 and 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Each evening a different local caterer will provide food and drink and live musicians will play to show how actual events in the mansion might appear.
With panoramic views of the Hudson River, this 1851 stone mansion is a magnificent combination of Victorian Gothic and Italianate architecture. Among the many classic features of the 22-room James House are a sweeping, red-carpeted double stairway leading to a Grand Hall that boasts 15-foot ceilings and a marble floor for dancing. French doors open out to a wrap-around verandah with river views. Interiors include a dining room with a marble fireplace, stained glass windows and a crystal chandelier, plus East and West Parlors, one with a Steinway grand piano and each with a marble fireplace and crystal chandelier.
The James House Mansion is decorated throughout with restored 19th century furnishings and paintings in a classic decor that includes Corinthian columns. Upstairs is an elegant bride's room, where the bride and her attendants can dress and relax before the ceremony. The mansion accommodates indoor weddings and events for up to 100 guests, and 150 guests outdoors. It is available for cocktail and dinner parties, business meetings and retreats, anniversaries, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners/brunches and many other celebrations.
Conveniently located at Routes 9 and 117 in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, The James House Mansion is about 45 minutes north of Manhattan, a few miles from the Tappan Zee Bridge and near all major highways.
