Mt. Vernon, NY - The City of Mount Vernon will present a free seminar entitled "How To Become A Certified M/WBE" (Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise), Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 5:30pm - 8:00pm at Mount Vernon City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Memorial Room, Mount Vernon, NY.
Participants will receive step-by-step instruction on the M/WBE application process from confirmed speakers from the Empire State Development Corporation and NYC Small Business Services. The seminar is open to the public and due to limited space, call-ahead reservations are required to confirm attendance.
This seminar comes as a follow-up to the Mayor's ongoing outreach effort to identify local M/WBEs.
Last month, Mayor Young and the Mount Vernon City Council were pleased to announce that it has taken the initial steps in the development of its Minority and Women-Owned Business Development (M/WBD) program. The program is designed to ensure minority and women-owned firms a fair share of opportunity in the redevelopment of Mount Vernon.
The M/WBD program is committed to achieving Mayor Young's vision for increasing opportunity for the City Of Mount Vernon's M/WBEs in the city's database and those yet to be certified. A reservation form for the seminar is available on the City of Mount Vernon's web site at www.cmvny.com. Please fax or e-mail the form to confirm your participation: Fax - 914-699-1435, Email -
